Modern system of management in Siberian stone pine (Pinus sibirica Du Tour) forests was tested on the basis of F. Avrov’s (1996, 2000, 2001) ideas. It was demonstrated that maintenance of half-natural, attended and controllable forests leads to detriment of genofund of valuable forest tree species and discredits conservation of forest as a sustainable ecosystem. According to proposed principles of management the forests should be separated on the natural and the cultivated ones. As sustainable ecosystems with complex of biosphere and resource functions natural forests should be regenerated naturally or by simulated natural regeneration techniques. Intensive reforestation and breeding techniques can be used only in the artificial, cultivated forests.
